Childhood Creativity Blooming into Adulthood
** The songs above helped my creative writing process (Cool People – CXH sounds best with this writing) Feel free to listen while reading **
There are many times at night when I sit and really think about all the happy and carefree moments in my life. My life as a whole may not have been perfect, but I do remember the enjoyable times.
Playing around outside without being scared of the bugs.
Making friends with other children on the block.
Playing pretend school in my room with my stuffed animals while watching Olivia on Nick Jr.
Of course, I’d run away from insects like wasps and bees if they got too close; but I never let the fear of insects prevent me from frolicking about in the backyard, even if I was alone.
At one point, we all used to enjoy being doing things without technology. Like drawing, painting, building things, reading, and even cooking (within a child’s capacities or with parental supervision).
When we did we become such cowards? When did we begin letting our lives slip away?
We can’t let getting older slow the creative flow (I promise that was not intended). We should continue to nourish our inner child by feeding our imagination.
Continue to do all the things that make your creative juices flow.
Listen to music, paint, dance, draw, color, decorate, dress up…
I collect manga, figurines, watch anime, and decorate bed with giant plushies. That’s the creative space I thrive in, so if no one gets it, then so be it.
It doesn’t matter if others think it’s childish or don’t understand. Most artists are misunderstood, and to each their own.
