Rock Reading Tuesdays
Hello everyone, welcome back to Rock Reading Tuesday and welcome to any new readers,
I am sad to say this will be our final Rock Reading Tuesday for now, I hope all of you enjoyed all the different bands that we talked about and the many stories I have shared with you all. Rock Reading Tuesday will be back on one of your favorite social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram. With that lets get started on our final book!
This week I wanted to focus on manga, now against what many people think manga is an artform. Being a manga artist can take up a lot of time to draw, edit, and get published huge teams are needed to put out chapters. One thing I can say I really enjoy about manga is you get a lot of art and plot in just a few pages. The manga we will focus on today is Horimiya written and illustrated by Hero (which is their pen name), this manga is about challenging your perspective of people. Our main character is a high school student who takes on the roll of being a parent to her younger brother, our secondary protagonist is a guy by the name of Miyamura who seems like the quiet nerd. Hori works hard to make sure her classmates do not think for a moment that she is any different from them and hides the fact that her parents left her to raise her younger brother. They look like polar opposites of each other the well loved semi-popular girl and the quiet nerd, once out of school we have a motherly sister and a caring piercing tattoo ridden guy.
This story opens the possibilities that not everyone is who they present themselves as which gives readers the opportunity to question those in their life. It strives to push the envelope and be realistic in the sense that children can and do struggle sometimes with serious issues. Hori had to grow up fast to take care of her brother and left her childhood behind she stopped being a kid once her brother was placed in her care.
This manga gives two lonely teenagers the opportunity to come together as themselves as they truly are, it strips them of their masks so they cannot hide behind the excuse that they do not know me outside of school. The art is kept simple so that it does not overshadow the plot but rather it enhances the story itself. This manga is light, funny, and sweet give it a read and get lost the world of uncovering secrets and uncovering friendships. It has over a hundred chapters, so it is a long read but it is worth it go check it out.
That concludes Rock Reading Tuesdays, hope you all have a great week! Have fun, remember to smile every now and then. See you guys later!
